Happy Birthday Jake!

Hey Y'all! Thanks for hanging in there with us over this past month. August is always our busiest & hectic fundraising month of the year because we have so many giveaways to celebrate Jake's birthday. The Jake Owen Foundation has become very near & dear to my heart with the passing of my nephew Brandon in 2010. Leukemia took him way too young & his whole family has felt the loss. NO family should ever have to lose their child. I knew once I fell in with Jake that I would be dedicating my life to raising not only funds but awareness for childhood illnesses. All while supporting the best artist in country music! Jake's birthday just kind of made it a lot easier to collect donations because everyone loves him & wants to show their love by donating to his charity. This year we raised over $1400! All of your hard earned money is greatly appreciated not only by me, but Jake as well. He is continually overwhelmed by the generosity of his fans & so am I! I love y'all & can't express how much I appreciate all you do.

I know it's been awhile!

Time flies so fast when you're not paying attention & then it's almost 2 months since you posted a blog! Sorry Y'all! Well, since I'm here I guess I could tell ya about our contest we have going. We will be giving away a wall calendar with Jakes pics & tour dates on it to the person who sends us the most donations until Saturday 3/17/12. "Star Spangled Celebration"

Hello again Jake fans! I was surfing the interweb & found a new tour date! Jake will be playing the "Star Spangled Celebration" at Krouskop Park in Richland Center, WI on June 21, 2012 at 9:15pm. This an all day festival so the gates open at 4:30pm & if your a fan of "Crazy Girl" singers the Eli Young Band, they will be playing at 7:15pm. Jake out of surgery!

I'm sure I can speak for all of us when I say, I was really worried about Jake when I didn't hear anything after his surgery! I sat there all day worrying & wondering if he made it out ok. Thankfully he tweeted late last night that he was out & ok but still groggy. At least I didn't have to go off to sleep worrying. Thanks Jake for the late night tweet & please,,,, Don't do this again huh? We like you in one piece! Take care y'all & have a great day! Jaime

Updated tour dates!

So Joe's Bar & The Island Resort & Casino dates have been rescheduled in April. Joe's Bar dates are April 18th & 19th & the Casino dates will be April 20th & 21st. Hope you all will be able to make it to the rescheduled shows. Keep praying for Jake that he heals fast & well! Loud & Proud!!! J & J

Jake out of commision.....

Hey everyone. I'm sure you've heard that Jake had an accident while in Colorado & broke his collarbone. He confirmed today that he will be having surgery tomorrow & will have to postpone some of his concert dates. He hasn't shared which dates but I think we can all guess that the Joe's Bar shows will have to be rescheduled. As soon as we hear something we will be sure to post about it. In the meantime, please send prayers up for Jake for a speedy recovery! Loud & Proud!!! J & J

Hey Yall! Sorry I haven't been updating as often as I should have. My son's been sick & for those of you who have kids, you know how hard it is to get time to do anything! lol

Okay, so I found a few new shows that I think you will all be happy about. Some of you probably already have seen the new update to Jake's events page but for those of you who haven't, here they are.

March 9th Jake will be at Mavericks Rock'n Honky Tonk in Jacksonville, FL. The show starts at 6pm. Ticket prices are as follows, 21+ upstairs=$25, 18+ general admission=$17. A $10 charge will be collected from all ticket holders under the age of 21. Tickets are on sale now & can be bought by going to mavericksatthelanding.com.

March 10th,  he will be playing 107.9 WIRK's Rib Round Up at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, FL. Tickets go on sale January 20th & will be $20-$25 at wirk.com.

March 14th, The Star of Texas Rodeo in Austin, TX has our Jake performing, see last post for info.

March 17th, he will be at the Dusty Armadillo in Rootstown, OH. I haven't found a whole lot of info just yet but you can go to dustya.com for updates.

September 2nd, Jake will be at the 2012 Twin Falls County fair in Filer, ID. Tickets go on sale June 1st & will be $15 for general admission & $20 for reserved seating. Go to tfcfair.com for more info.

We have a few new tour dates to add to Jake's already crowded schedule! I told Y'all about Crested Butte but he is playing a few really great venues that have just been added.

A show has been announced for The Block- 3 Clubs in 1, in Fort Walton, FL on February 9th but there isn't much for information on tickets. You can go to theblockclub.com for more info. I will post if I hear anything else.

On March 16th he will be playing at the Adrian College Annual Concert In Adrian, MI. The show will be held in the Merillat Sport & Fitness Center @8pm. Doors open @7:30pm. Tickets are on sale starting 2/19/12 @9am $25 to general public & $15 to all students & staff. All students are entitled to ONE free ticket! To buy tickets go to adriantickets.com

He will be at The BrickStreet in Oxford,OH on March 21st @8pm, doors open @7pm. Tickets go on sale soon! Check back often at brickstreetbar.com

Jake will be at the Runaway Country Space Coast Music Fest in Melbourne, FL in May but the details won't be released until early 2012. The info I do have so far says that the One Day Pass is $59, & the Three Day Pass is $99. The festival runs May 4,5,& 6th! Go to runawaycountry.com for more details. Again, I will post when I hear something!

June 12,2012 Jake will be at the Burlington Steamboat Days in Burlington,IA. The gates open at 5pm & he will be at the Miller Outdoor Main Stage. Go to steamboatdays.com for tickets.

Crested Butte Songwriters Festival

Jake will be appearing at the Crested Butte Songwriters Festival in Crested Butte, CO on January 13th & 14th 2012. (Proceeds from this show benefit Tough Enough to Wear Pink and the TJ Martell Foundation To date, the Tough Enough campaign has raised $5 million for breast cancer charities; the TJ Martell Foundation has helped provide more than $250 million for leukemia, cancer and AIDS research.) All Shows will be hosted by Storme Warren

On the 13th Jake will be performing at The Eldo. Not to be confused with Theealdo, lol, tickets are priced as "Any donation to the T.J. Martel Foundation" & will be available at the door. Show starts at 10:30pm. You can visit eldobrewpub.com or call (888) 443-6715 for more information.

On the 14th, Jake will be performing at the In-the-Round Benefit Show at The Center for the Arts. Tickets are $50.00 & can be purchased by calling (970) 349-2333. Lodging is also available at The Crested Butte Mountain Resort for various rates, but the most economical is the King Suite in the Grand Lodge for $116.00/night.

Jessi & I would like to thank you all for making 2011 such a special year for us here at The Owen Army!!! Because of you we were able to raise $1044.00 for The Jake Owen Foundation. We started the Army in September & weren't sure how we would be received but you have taken us in & made us a part of your day & for that we are truly grateful! We hope to make 2012 an even better year by starting our new campaign early, beginning January 1st. We have a lot of really cool things to come so stay tuned & we'll get the year started right! Our Trip to Vero Beach!

Since all of you have been asking for details about our trip, we decided to get it all out on here! :)
For those of you who are new or don't know us, the two girls who run the Owen Army are named Jaime & Jessi. We had never met when we started The Owen Army, we had just talked on the fanclub page, twitter and facebook. Crazy I know, but I've always said Jake can bring some awesome people together! We actually met for the first time on this trip.
We met in Orlando and drove down to Jakes hometown of Vero Beach, FL. It's a small, quiet little beach town with a big town feel. Seems like a great place to call home!  We didn't get to see much the first day we were there but we knew we had to "Cruise to the Riverside" and go see where Jake got his start, The Riverside Cafe!

If you ever go to Vero, you have to visit the Riverside Cafe!! It is part bar, part cafe, & part party place. It'ss such a fun atmosphere! The employees are so nice and the food and service is the best.

You can also go out on the deck and look out on the water, it's a really pretty place to see.

That was pretty much our Friday night, sitting and talking to some of the locals.

On Saturday, we woke up to it raining like crazy! But, we had a breakfast planned at the iHop with some of our Owen Army members. For those of you who made it, we had a great time just sitting & talking about our concert experiences, meeting Jake & many other things. It was like talking to old friends! A highlight of the breakfast for me was an old man, I can't recall his name, came up to us & saw our shirts & started talking about Jake. He had known the Owen family for awhile & was saying how great it was that Jake & Mardy came back for these events & really cared for their hometown. It was cool to see how much his hometown residents really loved him!

After we had breakfast, we went back to the hotel & heard that if the rain didn't stop, the concert was at risk of getting canceled. Which really upset us because we really wanted to be able to see Jake & give him the money that everybody worked so hard to raise. A little while after that, Jake tweeted that the event had indeed been cancelled. :(

A while later, we were heading out for lunch and ran into a few of our Owen Army girls who happened to be staying in the same hotel. So, we all decided to head on down to The Riverside Cafe again for some lunch.

As we pulled up to the Cafe, we see a very familiar face getting into a van with some other folks. Who was it??

He saw that Deanna & Stacey were wearing CY hats so he popped out and talked to us for a few and he kindly took some pictures with us. He was a real sweetheart!!

As we sat down for lunch, we couldn't help but notice a group of people sitting by the window. We recognized Jakes girlfriend Lacey and his twin brother Jarrod. But No Jake is sight!

About 15 minutes later we are eating our delicious lunch and who walks in.....Jake!! I'm not gonna lie, we were all trying to play it cool but we were freaking out inside!! lol He notices us, waves, & walks right over to our table and starts chatting us up. He had met us all before and he knew we were there for the concert. You could really tell he was so bummed that the concert was cancelled. He said that he felt sick just thinking about having to cancel the show but it wasn't safe for anyone to be there. 

Since we didn't know when the concert would be rescheduled or when we would see Jake again, we decided to go ahead and give him the donations, scrapbook and presents from The Owen Army.

I wish everyone of you could have been there!! He was so moved by everyones donations. He and Lacey both took time to look through the scrapbook, they loved it! He recognized some of you, which is awesome and he loved the cover with all the pictures from different concerts from 2011. And Lacey also loved our Owen Army shirts! Jake was telling her that the lips on the shirt were inspired by his lips tattoo which is of course are...Laceys lips!! She thought it was funny. I wish I could remember every little thing they said but it all went so fast, it's kind of a blur now.

After all this, Lacey offered to take pictures for us so we could show all of our members that Jake did get the check. I gotta say, she is a sweet girl!! :)

After we talked to Jake, we left to explore Vero a little more. Rumors were going around that he may play a small set at the Riverside that night but nobody was sure. We had planned to be there anyway just in case he decided to pop in! We got there around 8 and the place was packed!! He had decided to play a small, intimate, un-advertised show for The Jake Owen Foundation. Jake arrived around 9 and he was ready to play! He started out by playing "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" which was very appropriate for the night. :)

He also sang some of his own songs including "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" and "8 Second Ride". When the notes to "BBJN" started playing, the crowd went wild! I thought we were going to bring the place down!!

He then invited Chris to join him on stage. A highlight for me was the two of them singing Chris' hit "Tomorrow" together. I had chills!! They also did an amazing cover of George Straits "You Look So Good In Love".

After Chris left the stage, Jake kept on playing. He did a little Sublime, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Bow Chicka Wow Wow & Lynyrd Skynyrd...it was insane!
For all of us there, I know it will be a night we never forget! It was my favorite Jake show I have ever been to and I will always remember this weekend.

I am so glad we got to spend a few one on one minutes with him and give him the donations. That's what we were there for and it was a huge success!
We also were able to meet so many amazing people while in Vero. We want to personally thank The Riverside Cafe staff and owners David and Ellen for being so sweet to us. We really feel like Vero is our second home, we can't wait to come back and visit! Also, thank you to all of our Owen Army gals that came out in the pouring rain to have breakfast with us. We had a blast!! We look forward to doing it all again next year!

Jake Owen on Stageit!

For those of you who missed Jake last night on Stageit, we started off the night wondering where he was? We were all on standby for awhile & then Jake finally came on. Stageit must have been having technical difficulties because all of the viewers plus Jake lost the chat. Jake sang Silent Night which was a beautiful rendition & he even covered Pearl Jam, David Gray & Prince! All in all I'd say it was a great show, some issues there in the middle but anytime we get to see Jake is Great!!! You definitely don't want to miss the next one!   Jaime
